Letter From the Editor: Renew!

It’s time to renew. Time to renew venturing into public again, as the coronavirus pandemic appears to be waning (albeit in fits and starts). Time to renew appreciation for the armies of health care workers who continue to keep the public healthy and treat those who are not.

AHandwritten thank you note.nd it’s time to renew your membership in the Twin Cities Bungalow Club! How’s that for a transition? Seriously—we need you to renew so that the Bungalow Club can remain viable. For those who were fully paid members at the beginning of the pandemic (remember way back then?), we have carried your membership for a full year, for free. You’re welcome!

But now we need your support, and especially your financial support, more than ever. Many members renew at our events. While we have continued to publish quarterly issues of this newsletter throughout the pandemic, we have not been able to hold an event since February 2020, when we organized a tour of the historic Theodore Wirth Home. And because of the pandemic, we did not hold our home tour in 2020 or 2021. As a result, the club’s coffers are dwindling. Our membership dues have not increased in more than 25 years—and now that we offer two-year memberships, the cost is even lower. Each year we strive to offer four fact-and-fun-filled issues of this newsletter, and four engaging events. Please fill out our membership form or send an email to mail@bungalowclub.net, and we’ll email you an invoice so you can pay securely online by credit card.

From what you’ve told us, the Twin Cities Bungalow Club continues to satisfy. As modest Minnesotans, we don’t like to toot our own horn too loudly, but we do appreciate hearing when you enjoy what we offer. Most compliments come to us face-to-face at club events. But we also receive the occasional email, and even more occasionally, a letter in the mail.

We found the note pictured here particularly charming. Though the writer addressed it to me, the credit belongs to the Bungalow Club’s entire board of directors, as well as to club members who volunteer their time and effort when we reach out for assistance.

So, as we head into the holiday season, we renew our thanks and our gratitude—for you, for the Bungalow Club, and for the many events and home tours to come.
