Of all the places in the world you might guess was home to the first air-conditioned residence, Minnesota probably doesn’t leap to mind. Yet the first residence was in Minneapolis—a 38,000-square-foot mansion on Lake of the Isles, built about 1913 (and razed in 1933). The Star Tribune ran a brief, interesting piece about it.
